Rain washes out first day in Galle
The ground remained under covers right through the day
|
Rain washed out the opening day of the Test arrangement
between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, without a ball played or even a coin hurled in
Galle. The pitch and outfield stayed under spreads directly as the day
progressed, and the umpires formally canceled play after an investigation at
1.45pm.
By then, it was clear no play would be conceivable.
Determined showers had kept both groups in their lodging, and the overwhelming
shadiness had guaranteed the ground staff kept the spreads on notwithstanding
amid dry interims.
Play will start 15 minutes at an opportune time the four
remaining days, with the center session reached out by an additional 15 minutes.
